Railroad Oils
Railroad Engine Oil is an optimized formulation that contains lower sulfur fuels and increased emission control systems for both new and older locomotive engines. Railroad Engine Oils are fully approved, premium quality, zinc-free diesel engine oils designed for use in two-stroke and four-stroke cycle locomotive engines in railroad, marine, or industrial service.
Ramar Diesel XDO:
Ramar Diesel XDO is a high-quality, zinc-free, heavy-duty diesel engine oil designed for use in all 2-stroke cycle and 4-stroke cycle railroad locomotive diesel engines.
It also is recommended for use in railroad-type diesel engines used in marine service or stationary service for power generation. It is formulated with new technology, reduced ash (9 TBN) additive package that is particularly recommended for use in modern EMD and GE power units running on low or ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel.
Journal Bearing Oil:
Journal bearing is a shaft or journal rotating in a bearing. The shaft rotates in the bearing with a layer of lubricant separating the two parts. With a journal bearing, there is no rolling element like in other bearings.
Bearing oils are either a natural mineral oil with additives to prevent rust and oxidation or synthetic oil. In synthetic oils, the base is usually polyalphaolefins, polyalkylene glycols, and esters.
Oils are the preferred lubricant in open bearing designs or when low torque or high speeds are the priority during bearing operation. This is due to the relatively lower viscosity as compared to greases. Oil lubrication allows for more efficient movement of the ball through the lubricant, as compared to greases.
